A palm thatched hut on the ocean may be romantic, but it does have a down side... it doesn't last forever, We started seeing some wear this year and if you stayed there in the summer rains, you may have experienced a bit of that rain on the inside. So a call went out to Candillo, our master palapa craftsman and he got us on his schedule. I don't mean just his work schedule, but also the harvesting schedule. Alien plant from outer space???

The gardens are looking absolutely beautiful. Three years of trying this and that, getting cuttings from different places, having neighbors drop off plants that they thought we would like, is really beginning to show. I will try and post a new photo gallery tomorrow of just the different garden areas. WELLLLLLL, this thing bloomed today and I sure wish I could find out what is. It really looks like it was dropped from planet Ziptod. It is some kind of succulent. The petals are … [Read more...]
Morning in Yelapa

I love the mornings, I'm a morning person. Right now I have been getting out of bed about 7, not an unthinkable hour to get up, but in Yelapa at 7am it's still pitch black, feels like you are getting up in the middle of the night. I go to the kitchen , make a pot of good Mexican roast coffee, then sit in the courtyard and watch the sun come up. If my husband Stephen were here, this would be our "talking time". I am watching the pelicans. They sit on the rocks pretending to be … [Read more...]
